revenue magazineWhen it comes to getting an edge in the online affiliate market, you need every advantage possible.

In years past the adult industry was a leader in affiliate marketing techniques, however lately mainstream has been growing in leaps and bounds. For this reason it is vital to keep an ear to the mainstream, so to speak, in order to stay on the cutting edge of promotion methods online.

One of the best sources I have found for forward thinking in the affiliate marketing game, is Revenue Magazine. I don’t even remember how I originally discovered this rag, but my subscription was free (and they still are offering free subscriptions!!) and it is now the only magazine that beats Maxim/Stuff out for toilet time at my house.

For anyone in the affiliate marketing business, it’s a no-brainer, this magazine is a must have! Sign up for your free subscription before they start making this information invite-only.

Corner Suite ViewLast year I hit Internext for the first time and I have to say it was a fucking blast!

I planned to do some networking and get some business accomplished, but instead spent the nights drinking, smoking and fucking until the sun came up.

Check my view of the pool from the corner suite that me and my girl rented.

If you went last year or are planning on going this year in August, hit me up and we can have some drinks (business is on the menu too).

Free Speech Online Lives On

It’s times like these I am proud to be a member of the American Civil Liberties Union!

Yesterday, the ACLU won their longstanding challenge to an Internet Censorship Law!!!

Basically the repercussions consist of parents becoming responsible enough to monitor their children’s computer usage. Long gone are the days of plopping little Johnny down in front of sponge pants square tv.

Webmasters, continue to self label and rate your websites.

Oh and lets not forget, everyone who values their protections under the Bill of Rights, join the ACLU today! (They might protect you from big brother tomorrow!)

fuck you pay meThe Industry forum known as Fuck You Pay Me (FUPM), has recently been announced as being for sale. This is an excellent opportunity for program owners who want to boost their potential affiliate base. Purchasing an established forum with a user base of over 1k could easily help lift a small program to that next level, simply by skinning the forum on a monthly basis. FUPM already offers a variety of paid-to-post contests too, which can help garner forum traffic that is notoriously difficult to establish. I know if I was preparing to launch a new adult affiliate program, or already owned a semi-established one, purchasing this forum would be a golden opportunity for me.

Self Regulation by Labeling

restricted to adultsThe availability of porn on the Internet is pretty much equivelant to sand at the beach. Nearly any search done through the portals, results with at least one result having to do with porn, even if you were looking for “toys”.

Unfortunately many unsuspecting viewers may accidentally stumble upon a porn site, without realizing what they were about to witness. Just imagine the results for “Barbie,” when nearly every stripper from the 80’s used some variation of it, as her stage name.

It is the accidental viewing of porn that has many government officials looking to regulate how adult material is delivered online. This kind of attention looks bad on the adult industry as a whole.

The only way to avoid being clamped down on by overly conservative regulators, is to actually self-regulate our sites. If we leave it up to someone else, they may be overly restrictive (.xxx tld).

Personally as a best practice, I feel that all sites need to be rated and should also have a warning page.

Warning pages actually increase site depth (SEO bonus), help prevent minors from accidentally accessing adult material and show that access was consented to.

Nobody wants a minor accessing an adult site anyways, afterall they don’t have credit cards.

Are you labeling your pages yet?

Google vs the Matrix

google vs the matrixImagine the power gained, if a government had total access to the data harnassed within Google. Complete knowledge of buying trends, thoughts, questions and the people behind them. Big Brother would truelly be watching you.

Yahoo, AOL & MSN each gave the US Government access to their internal data… which is even more appaulling, considering that they are in much better positions to monitor behavior patterns. Email, instant messengers, personals, autos, finance, real estate; all on the 1st page of every Internet users browser. The portals are the front doors to the Internet.

I’m not saying the government is savy enough to know how to use this kind of data, but they are. The knowledge within the worlds most popular search engine is beyond comprehension. Fortunately Google has had the balls to standup to overreaching probes thus far.

Don’t trust that your data is secure. For the time being though, Google seems to be erring on the side of the people, so I say handle your business through them.

If you had access to the queries lurking within Google, what would you do with it?
